The museum housed in Micklegate Bar can be accessed only via the city walls and is open from 10am - 4pm daily during summer. The building houses two exhibitions; a permanent exhibition about the building's history and the different people who have lived in it over the centuries, and a temporary exhibition about the English monarchy and their relationship with York - as Micklegate Bar is the traditional entrance used by the monarchs when visiting York on state business (as demonstrated by Elizabeth II as recently as 5th April 2012). « less
