Trapeze Bar doesn't aim to be the circus but rather create the anarchic and glittery atmosphere of a circus performer's after-party, as if one had wandered behind the big top and found the troupe letting their (multi-coloured) hair down after hours. The brand new groundfloor bar and kitchen offers delectable diner style food and bespoke circus themed cocktails. It will also showcase popup restaurant residencies from local talent. Kicking it all off with a disco & burger session (every Thurs and Fri 12-3pm) is award-winning burger pop up Burger Bear (who amongst other things just smashed it on a Kickstarter campaign). In-week entertainment will take the form of evening musical quizzes (Tues) hosted by seasoned festival favourites Sounds Familiar as well as a freaky fusion of live bluegrass, jazz, soul and a healthy smattering of burlesque to match the modern diner menu. Weekends will see Trapeze Bar soundtracking their flaming cocktails with London's finest DJs spinning party tunage of old and new with flash circus performances designed to surprise. Downstairs houses Trapeze Basement Club (formerly East Village) which will be flexing some serious underground dance-scene muscle. With a roster of the most respected names in House and Deep Disco filling the (ample) dance floor, the underground club aims to keep the venue's reputation for consistently exciting line-ups. « less
