The Center is dedicated to the preservation of Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, and quality animal care. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals from the wild in conjunction with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. When possible, the Center will release animals back into the wild, and when necessary, works with similar facilities in the United States and abroad to place these animals in lifetime homes. The Center cares for brown and black bears, moose, caribou, elk, musk ox, lynx, and the herd of 135 endangered wood bison. AWCC is the best way for visitors to get an up close view of Alaska’s wildlife in a natural setting. « less
