For individuals living the vegan lifestyle, London has many well-known restaurants that cater to vegan diet choices. Exploring a region through its food offerings is a great way to make unbelievable memories.  Consider these restaurants and their best-known menu items when you’re stopping for a bite to eat in London.

 

Vantra Vitao, 25-27 Oxford street, W1D 2DW

This eatery promotes a simple lifestyle, with raw or gently-cooked vegan and vegetarian offerings. Menu items include meatless nachos, buckwheat pizza with tomato sauce and seed-cheese, slow cooked lentils, raw lasagna vivente (composed of squash, tomato and seed-cheese), and even steamed Curry Laksa (a coconut curry soup with noodles, greens, pineapple and mint. Vitao is open Monday through Saturday from 12 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 12 a.m. to 9 p.m.

 

The Gate, Hammersmith and Islington

Both locations of this well-known vegetarian and vegan eatery offer foods to soothe hunger for nearly any palate. Their offerings include starters like griddled courgette, butternut, rocket & cashew pesto tart or a mezze platter; visitors can move on to dishes like warm polenta and watercress salad, king chive tortellini or cauliflower and emmental glazed rotolo. Both offer weekend and brunch menus that differ from the weekday offerings.  Hours of operations vary depending on the specific location.

 

Sagar, West End, Hammersmith or Covent Gardens

This restaurant focuses on sharing the foods of southern India to a wide audience. At any of the three locations, hungry visitors can nosh on Idli (steamed rice dumplings), a variety of Dosas (pancakes made of various ingredients), lentil pizzas and curry dishes. Hours of operations vary depending on the specific location.

 

Beatroot, 92 Berwick Street, Soho

This small restaurant offers a variety of salads, juices and hot meals from around the world. Diners can enjoy moussaka, curry of the day, Greek salads, Japanese rice salads and a variety of cakes and drinks. Beatroot is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

 

Food for Thought, 31 Neal Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9PR

Vegan offerings are somewhat limited here, but this cozy restaurant offers a satisfying meal and an opportunity to get to know a variety of strangers.  You’ll surely find meals of rice and stir fried vegetables if that’s what you’re in the mood for. Food for Thought is open every day until 8 p.m.

 

La Gelatiera Artisan Gelato, 27 New Row, Covent Garden

If you’re craving sweets, La Gelatiera is the place to go. Visitors can choose from more than 80 flavors of gelato or sorbets that are made daily in small batches. Free of artificial flavors, colors and other items, these creations are low in fat and packed with seasonal ingredients and fruits. La Gelatiera is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. or Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

 

Wild Food Café, 1st Floor, 14 Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, WC2H 9DP

With a menu that focuses on raw foods, Wild Food Café features meals like organic Turkish olives and activated almonds, salads, living bruschetta or hummus and a variety of desserts. Wild Food Café is open Sunday through Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
