Why Travel Is The Best Relationship You Will Ever Have

June 16, 2016

It is always a great feeling to have a special someone whom you can trust and depend on but that isn’t always the case for everyone. Breakups are inevitable and they are the most heartbreaking and most difficult phase that a person has to go through. Travel may make you fall in love and break your heart every time you visit and leave the place, but you know that it is always there for you and that you can get back to it whenever you want. After all, the only way to nurse a travel-broken heart is to travel yet again.

It won’t ever let you down

As much as we would like not to be dependent on another person, it can be very difficult for us not to expect something from them. Oftentimes, expecting something, anything at all, can leave us heartbroken.

Travel opens doors unknown and encourages you to move on to another exciting phase in your life. Travel may put you in many uncomfortable situations but it is unlikely that you give up on travel just because of it. Most likely, you will just laugh it off in the next few days: it creates a great story to tell to your grandchildren, anyway.

It stays loyal to you

Unfortunately, no matter how invested you are in a relationship, it won’t always be able to cater to your needs the way you want it.

Travel, on the other hand, will never leave you. Instead, it leaves countless doors open for you as long as you are willing to take on the challenges and say yes to adventure.

It doesn’t require a lot of money

Travel doesn’t tell you to spend an arm and a leg to get to that fancy restaurant or go on a vacation in an exclusive luxury resort once every month.

Yes, travel requires some amount of money but you can always opt for the less trodden path, where things are much cheaper, too. After all, there are always low budget hostels, free walking tours and hitchhiking tricks that you can use to save hundreds of dollars every single time.

It will never hold you back

One of the best things about travel is that it will never prevent you to do the things you have always wanted. So you want to stay up and have a crazy night in a new place? Or you probably want to go on a solo trip to a new country with a totally foreign language? You can get up and decide whenever and wherever you want to go, no questions asked. Every single place you visit will always welcome you with open arms.

It will never get jealous

Setting priorities and managing your time can be very difficult and the lack of time together is one of the most common causes of breakups.

Travel will never get jealous whether you decide to spend most of your time with it or not. You can choose to focus on your work and build your funds right now and travel later. It will never let you feel as if you had forgotten it because you never will and it will always be a big part of your life.

It will be your best friend

Whether you are nursing a heartache from your relationships, from work or from your life in general or you are celebrating a huge milestone, travel will always be there to accompany you. It will be your best friend, definitely the best one, and it will be with you through all your ups and downs.

It will also be your best wingman

And who knows, in one of your travels, you might just meet the right person who will understand your personality. Wouldn’t it be great if you met someone who is just addicted to travel as you are, during one of your exploits in a foreign place?

It will connect you to great career opportunities

Not a lot of people see it but travel actually brings a lot of opportunities, career-wise. If you are tired of your monotonous 9-t0-5 job, you might probably want to explore career options that will give you the flexibility to travel. How about becoming a photographer? Blogger? Instructor? The other half of a travel-related startup? The sky’s the limit when you are out traveling!

It is something you wouldn’t mind introducing to family and friends

One of the biggest things a person dreads when they start seriously dating someone is having to introduce their special someone to family and friends. With travel, there will never be a chance to be scared about introductions. Your family and friends might not be one hundred percent supportive of your travel lifestyle but once they see the benefits that you are reaping, they will soon understand that you need it in your life.

It is your ultimate love

Once you fall in love with travel, there is no turning back. It will be embedded into your lifestyle and your personality, no matter how much you try to shoo it away. There will still be room for other things in life but, trust me, there will always be a huge space for travel in your heart and you will go looking for it over and over again. There will be times that you will have to be apart but you end up daydreaming about travel and thinking about the day that you two will be reunited once again.
