Description

This is an itinerary for a trip to London that my wife and I took in 2013. I would recommend staying in Leicester Square which was a perfect location to hit all of the sites listed in this Trek. We took a red eye (overnight) flight from the U.S. on a Wednesday evening and arrived in London on Thursday morning. The Royal Botanic Gardens are near the airport on the way to central London and it a beautiful place to stretch your legs after a long flight.

From the Botanic Gardens, it's about an hour on the tube from the airport to central London. After checking into our accommodations, we set out after a few of the sites near where we were staying, highlighted by the wonderful view from the London Eye. Friday was a big day of hitting many of the most notable sites around central London, beginning with St. Paul's Cathedral and ending at Tower Bridge.

On Saturday we started at the eastern end of central London with Westminster Abbey and ended the day at the lovely Hyde Park. I would also highly recommend seeing a live football (soccer) match if you can. There are many professional football clubs based in London and most of them play each week on Saturday or Sunday from August to May.

On Sunday we took in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Portobello Road Market before adjourning London for Windsor to tour the spectacular Windsor Castle. Upon returning to London on Sunday evening, find a place for a nice dinner out and then have a few pints afterwards in an authentic London pub. I sincerely hope you enjoy the venues on this fully-loaded itinerary as much as we did! Cheers!
